Will bed bugs disappear if I change my bed?

BedbugsOnce you have bed bugs the next question is how to get rid of them with many people asking, will bed bugs disappear if I change my bed? The simple truth is that bed bugs can live in any area of your home, or indeed outside of your home, and in some of the more extreme temperatures. If you have bed bugs on your bed then changing your bed is an option but please remember when removing any infested furniture or other items from your property you could actually end up spreading the bed bug infestation to other areas of your home!

As we suggested in some of our earlier articles, there are many ways to control and eradicate bed bugs and if products are used correctly this will happen in a fairly short space of time. However, it is wrong to assume that bed bugs literally live in your bed and nowhere else because they can be transferred from person to person, via items which you may buy second-hand and indeed they have been known to travel by public transport hanging onto people or various items. The truth is that once you have an infestation of bed bugs you will really need to take advice regarding their eradication and you will also need to look at the various treatments available.

Many people have fallen foul when disposing of infested furniture and products because simply dragging these through their home towards the rubbish tip has in many cases simply allowed bed bugs to accumulate in other areas of the home. You may well ask the question why these pests are called bed bugs when in reality they can live in a variety of different environments – again this is something which has not helped the understanding of consumers in the UK and around the world.

There are many websites on the Internet which will give you practical advice about bedbug infestations and we strongly recommend doing your research if you have the slightest suspicion you may have “unwanted visitors”.
